Sandhills Community College opened a Region 10 home stand with a 116–91 victory over Tidewater Community College Friday night in The Hangar.
The Flyers built a 54–42 halftime advantage and continued to extend the lead in the second half, outscoring Tidewater 62–49 after the break. Sandhills shot 55.6% from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers, while recording 32 assists on 45 made baskets.
Zack Noel led the Flyers with 15 points and 11 rebounds, posting a double-double to go along with three assists, two steals, and a block. Mylon Campbell added 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting and dished out six assists, while Titus Cunningham also scored 15 points off the bench.
Isaiah Upchurch contributed 13 points and three steals, and Nysheed Williams finished with 14 points, five steals, and three assists. Randy Dockery scored 10 points, including two three-pointers.
Sandhills dominated the glass with a 46–23 rebounding advantage and finished the night with 15 steals and three blocks. The Flyers forced 26 turnovers and consistently converted those opportunities into transition baskets.
The Flyers' game originally scheduled for Saturday, January 31 against Camp Community College has been postponed due to the forecasted winter weather and will now be played on Sunday, February 15.
Sandhills will return to action at home on Wednesday, February 4 against Central Carolina Community College at 7:00 p.m., followed by Region 10 matchups on Saturday, February 7 versus Virginia Peninsula CC at 1:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 8 versus Oxford College of Emory University at 1:00 p.m.
