Flyers Roll Past Guilford Tech, 107–76
Sandhills Community College bounced back in a big way Wednesday night, rolling past Guilford Technical Community College 107–76 behind a balanced offensive attack that saw five Flyers score in double figures. The win evens Sandhills' record at 1–1 on the season.
Sophomore Isaiah Upchurch led all scorers with 13 points, going a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line and adding four assists and two steals. Zack Noel dominated in the paint with 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Anthony Jones was equally strong inside, finishing with 12 points and seven boards.
Mylon Campbell chipped in 11 points on efficient 5-of-8 shooting, and Titus Cunningham came off the bench to spark the offense with 12 points and five rebounds. The Flyers shot 51.9 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Titans 49–30 in a strong all-around effort.
Sandhills jumped out to a 54–38 halftime lead and never looked back, using strong ball movement and defensive pressure to control the tempo throughout. The Flyers' bench contributed 46 points, highlighted by Nylikk Troutman's 11 points and Cristian Sias' seven points and six rebounds.
With the win, Sandhills improves to 1–1 and now turns its attention to Saturday's home opener at 3 p.m. against Northern Essex Community College. The matchup features two nationally ranked NJCAA Division III teams, with the Flyers entering at No. 6 and Northern Essex at No. 8 in the preseason poll.
