Sandhills Community College outscored Cleveland Community College 46–38 in the second half to earn an 85–81 home victory Sunday afternoon in a game sponsored by The Academy of Moore in The Hangar.
Cleveland held a 43–39 lead at halftime, but Sandhills responded with improved efficiency from the field and the free-throw line after the break. The Flyers finished the game shooting 45.6% (31-of-68) from the floor and went 20-of-25 (80.0%) at the line, helping swing the momentum late.
Mylon Campbell led Sandhills with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, adding three free throws and a three-pointer. Isaiah Upchurch chipped in 13 points, while Amarie Liburd recorded a strong all-around performance with 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Zack Noel added eight points and eight rebounds in the win.
Sandhills received balanced scoring off the bench, including 11 points each from Titus Cunningham and Nylikk Troutman. Kendall Smith contributed nine points, knocking down six free throws.
The Flyers shot 80.0% from the free-throw line and finished with 37 total rebounds, 15 assists, and 11 turnovers. Cleveland was unable to regain the lead down the stretch as Sandhills closed out the game at the line.
The Flyers will hit the road next Saturday, January 24th, for a matchup at Oxford Emory before returning home on Friday, January 30th, for a 7 p.m. game against Tidewater Community College. Sandhills will also be back in action at home on Saturday, July 31st, hosting Camp Community College at 3 p.m.
