The Sandhills Community College men's basketball team turned in a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, defeating Flight 22 Prep 98–67 at home.
Sandhills set the tone early, racing out to a 51–23 halftime lead behind efficient shooting and relentless pressure on both ends of the floor. The Flyers shot over 54 percent from the field for the game and forced Flight 22 into 17 turnovers, allowing Sandhills to control the tempo from start to finish.
Zack Noel led the Flyers with 20 points on an impressive 10-of-14 shooting, adding nine rebounds and four assists. Titus Cunningham followed with 17 points off the bench, while Kendall Smith delivered a strong all-around effort with 13 points and a team-high seven assists. Nylikk Troutman chipped in 10 points and five rebounds, and Randy Dockery provided a spark in the starting lineup with nine points in just 16 minutes.
Sandhills also dominated the glass, outrebounding Flight 22 47–25, including 17 offensive rebounds that led to consistent second-chance opportunities. The Flyers finished with 29 assists on 43 made field goals, showcasing unselfish ball movement throughout the lineup.
Flight 22 was led by Brandon Carter's 17 points, but the visitors struggled to find consistent offense, shooting just 38 percent from the field and 21.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Sandhills will return to action at home on Wednesday night for its final home game before Christmas break, hosting Pitt Community College at 6:30 p.m.
