Flyers Outlast Guilford Tech in 99–93 Shootout at Home

The Sandhills Community College Flyers picked up a hard-fought 99–93 win over Guilford Technical Community College on Saturday afternoon, using a balanced offensive effort and timely plays on both ends of the floor.

Sandhills opened with a strong first half, taking a 48–44 lead into the break behind efficient scoring from several starters. The Flyers maintained their edge throughout the second half, matching every Guilford Tech run with key baskets and defensive stops to seal the six-point win.

Isaiah Upchurch led the way with 19 points, adding six rebounds, four assists, and a steal in an all-around performance. Zack Noel delivered one of his most efficient outings of the year, scoring 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting while grabbing eight rebounds. Sophomore Titus Cunningham added a spark off the bench with 12 points and five boards, and sophomore Nylikk Troutman chipped in 11 points, five rebounds, and two steals.

Cristian Sias impacted the game on both ends, finishing with seven points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Mylon Campbell and Kendall Smith combined for 14 more. In total, 12 different Flyers found the scoring column as Sandhills shot 47.3% from the field and 74.2% at the free-throw line.

Guilford Tech was led by a standout 28-point performance from Tyren Martin and 20 from Mike Webster, but the Flyers' depth and ball movement (26 team assists) proved to be the difference.

Sandhills returns to action on Tuesday, November 25th at 7 p.m., hosting Johnston Community College in their final matchup before taking a few days off for Thanksgiving break.
