Dynasty Continues: Flyers Capture Sixth Consecutive NJCAA Division III National Championship
The dynasty continues.
The Sandhills Community College men's golf team captured its sixth consecutive NJCAA Division III National Championship on Friday at Chautauqua Golf Club, completing another dominant performance on the national stage and further cementing its place among the greatest programs in NJCAA history.
The Flyers finished the four-day championship at 4-over-par, posting rounds of 294, 287, 287, and 288 to win the national title by an astounding 42 strokes over runner-up Delta College (+46). College of DuPage finished third at +50, while Georgia Military College placed fourth at +51.
The championship marks Sandhills' sixth straight national title and extends a remarkable run that has seen the Flyers win every NJCAA Division III championship since 2021.
Adding to the historic week, Sebastian Haug claimed the individual national championship, finishing at 4-under-par for the tournament. Haug was the only player in the field to finish under par for the championship and closed with rounds of 74, 69, 70, and 71 to secure a four-shot victory.
Haug's performance continued a tradition of individual excellence for the Flyers, becoming the 5th consecutive Sandhills golfer and 7th overall to stand atop the national leaderboard.
The Flyers placed four golfers inside the top 13 individually earning NJCAA All-American honors.
Vegas Melen earned a tie for fifth place at 8-over-par, while Wyatt Beaver surged into a tie for fifth after firing a final-round 70. Beaver finished the tournament at 8-over-par and recorded one of the best rounds of the day in the final round.
Trace Wallace rounded out the scoring lineup with a tie for 13th-place finish at 14-over-par.
Sandhills seized control of the championship early, opening with a six-stroke lead after Round 1 before posting consecutive under-par team rounds on Days 2 and 3. By the start of Friday's final round, the Flyers had built a 28-stroke advantage and never allowed the rest of the field an opportunity to close the gap.
The 2026 championship team now joins an elite list of Sandhills squads that have helped define an era of excellence for the program. From start to finish, the Flyers showcased the depth, consistency, and championship mindset that have become synonymous with Sandhills golf.
