Flyers Push to Strong Finish at Cutter Creek
The Sandhills Community College Flyers wrapped up competition at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate, hosted by East Carolina University at Cutter Creek Golf Club, finishing 12th overall with a three-round total of +41.
Facing a strong NCAA Division I field, the Flyers posted rounds of +9, +23, and +9, showing consistency in the opening and final rounds.
Vegas Melen led the way for Sandhills with an impressive tournament performance, finishing at -2 overall. Melen capped his weekend with a final round 71 (-1), earning a top-10 individual finish against a deep field.
Wyatt Beaver and William Dement each added steady final rounds of 73 (+1), while the Flyers battled through a tough middle round before bouncing back on Sunday.
At the top of the leaderboard, Campbell and Elon shared the team title at -9, followed closely by host East Carolina at -7.
The Flyers will look to build on Melen's standout performance as they wrap up regular season play next week at the Irish Creek Collegiate hosted by Appalachian State.
