Flyers Finish Runner-Up at Spartanburg Methodist Fall Invitational
The Sandhills Community College men's golf team turned in another strong performance this week, finishing second overall at the Spartanburg Methodist Pioneers Fall Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at Cherokee National Golf Course.
The Flyers followed their opening-round 298 (+10) with a 299 (+11) on Tuesday to close with a 36-hole total of 597 (+21), just 19 shots behind host Spartanburg Methodist, who captured the team title at 578 (+2). Columbia International University rounded out the top three at 600 (+24).
Freshman Vegas Melen once again led the way for Sandhills, posting rounds of 72–73 to finish fourth overall at +1 (145). Wyatt Beaver fired an impressive 73 on Tuesday to climb into a tie for 10th at 150 (+6).
Sophomores Trace Wallace and Sebastian Hannisdahl Haug each tied for 13th after matching totals of 151 (+7), while Drake Hull improved seven shots from day one to close with a 77 for a two-day score of 161 (+17).
