Flyers Student-Athletes Shine in the Classroom During Fall 2025 Semester
As the Spring 2026 semester begins on Monday, January 12, Sandhills Community College Athletics is proud to recognize the outstanding academic achievements of its student-athletes during the Fall 2025 semester.
Balancing the demands of practices, competitions, travel, and coursework is no small task, yet Flyers student-athletes once again rose to the challenge. Across all programs, 35 student-athletes earned a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, highlighting a department-wide commitment to academic excellence.
That success was reflected not only in individual honors, but also in strong team performances in the classroom. Flyers Athletics posted a department cumulative GPA of 3.26 for the Fall 2025 semester, highlighted by several teams exceeding that mark:
-
Men's Golf: 3.79 GPA
-
Indoor Volleyball: 3.58 GPA
-
Beach Volleyball: 3.25 GPA
-
Men's Basketball: 2.78 GPA
"Working with our student-athletes at Sandhills is incredibly rewarding, especially helping incoming freshmen learn how to balance practice and game schedules with their class time and academic responsibilities," said Marsha Apke, athletic department academic liaison. "I am truly proud of how hard our student-athletes worked this past semester and the goals they accomplished. Their coaches and I have high expectations and they rose to the challenge. We are looking forward to another successful spring semester. Go Flyers!"
