The third-ranked Sandhills Community College Flyers strung together another strong stretch of play this weekend, sweeping three matches in two days and staying unbeaten in Region 10 action. The Flyers opened with a 3–0 win on the road at Lenoir Community College Friday night, then returned home Saturday to defeat Patrick & Henry Community College and USC Lancaster in back-to-back matches inside The Hangar.
On Friday at Lenoir, Sandhills controlled the match from the opening serve, taking the sets 25–13, 25–20, 25–23. Katelyn Bunting was nearly unstoppable at the net, finishing with 11 kills on a .647 hitting percentage, while Taylor Miller added six kills and a solo block. Setter Averi Cuddeback paced the offense with 21 assists and chipped in two service aces. Brooke Emore had another strong night with 10 kills and 11 digs, and the Flyers combined for 44 digs in the win.
The Flyers carried that momentum into Saturday morning's Region 10 match-up, rolling past Patrick & Henry in straight sets (25–19, 25–5, 25–6). Madison Scheffler turned in her second most efficient performance of the season, recording six kills on a .750 hitting percentage. Emore and Miller chipped in seven kills each, while freshman Julia Porter provided an energetic spark off the bench with three kills on three swings. Cuddeback directed the attack with 16 assists and five service aces, and Bunting was again a force at the net with five kills and two block assists.
Sandhills closed out the weekend with a 3–0 sweep of USC Lancaster (25–21, 25–10, 25–21) avenging their only loss of the season. Bunting and Emore each tallied 10 kills to lead the offense, while Miller added nine kills on a .348 clip. Cuddeback dished out 25 assists and anchored the serve with two aces, while libero Olivia Rosy kept the defense steady with six digs. The Flyers' balanced effort produced 39 team kills and a .300 hitting percentage in the win.
With the three victories, Sandhills continues to build momentum in Region 10 play. The Flyers return to the court Wednesday night when they travel to Louisburg College for a 6pm match-up.
